Relient-K is On Fire !

July 5th, 2007 by run2win

Relk Popular mainstream and Christian rock band Relient K hit a major set back Thursday when their tour bus when up in flames.

Relient K ran into some problems after their bus went up in flames Thursday morning. No band members were injured.

Just finishing up an opening night performance at this year’s Creation Northeast Festival in Pennsylvania in front of about 75,000 fans, the band was heading to their next stop in Bushnell, Ill., when the bus went into flames around 3:20 a.m. on Thursday morning due to an engine eruption under the back lounge of the tour bus. The group was expected to headline the concerts at the Cornerstone Festival Thursday night in front of another 20,000 fans.

“It was pandemonium,” explained Matt Thiessen, lead vocals, to the Times-Reporter. “Everyone was screaming. We thought the bus might blow up.”

The problem was spotted from the back of the vehicle by Thiessen and one of his friends, who then alerted the bus driver. The rest of the band was awakened by the alarmed driver who made everyone evacuate.

Fortunately, no band member was hurt in the accident, but the blaze will ring up a hefty damage bill.

Although total costs of damage for the vehicles are unknown, Thiessen has reported that his items were valued up to at least $7,000, which included his laptop computer containing 100 unfinished songs.

Because of the disaster, the band had to cancel its Cornerstone appearance, but still plans on making a Saturday night performance planned for Greeley, Colo.

Despite all the problems, the band has handled the chaos fairly well.

“We were just gawking and kind of laughing [outside the bus]. It was all so cinematic,” said Thiessen in the Times-Reporter. “There was the night sky with all this light and this fireman kneeling and hacking at the top of the bus with an ax.”

“It’s funny to be onstage playing for 75,000 people having a great time, at the height of your element,” he added. “Then hours later standing outside by a burning bus with no shoes on, feeling basically like a refugee.”

Relient K is a Grammy-nominated, Dove Award-winning band that hails from Ohio. The five-member squad, although Christian, erupted into the mainstream music scene in 2004 over their fourth album, Mmhmm, which had three top-five songs on the Christian airwaves and two top-twenty mainstream songs.

They have had success with their newest album, Five Score and Seven Years Ago, which was released on Mar. 6. The record debuted at No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 chart and at No. 2 on the iTunes best-selling albums chart.

ENLARGING !

May 22nd, 2007 by run2win

‘Enlarge the place of your tent.’ - Isaiah 54
I Believe as we get larger, we must get larger. Throughout this 8 months since I’m based in KL, I’ve faced and met various challengers which left me with 2 Choices, either to Step Up/Forward or Back-Down.

At the end of the film in SPIDERMAN 3, Peter Parker says, in voiceover:

“Whatever comes our way, whatever battle we have raging inside us, we always have a choice. My friend Harry taught me that. He chose to be the best of himself. It’s the choices that make us who we are, and we can always choose to do what’s right.”

This statement greatly inspires me, is really true because most of the time people are too comfortable being in the circle the drew for themselves or perhaps sometimes they let others create it for them. We gotta prevent the latter one from happening at All Cost. Because i realised each time when you allow others to create your world for you, they’ll create it too small..

Ever since i broke out from my limitation, I just found God pouring more into my life. More blessing, more anointing, more wisdom..more guidance. In-fact is pretty sad to see people who belong to a religious group or cliques ..just tend to stick with each other and get really satisfied with their current performance or productivity and they’ll have this mental schemas which tells em they are doing good and whosoever person tht doesn’t join em or belong to em are not up to their standard. This is also known as Stereotyping. Someone once told me, "Leonard, You gotta learn to slow-down and pull the handbrake…." I wonder how could this person mis-interpret the term "slow-down" ? does he/she really understand it? For me, i would agree we need to slow-down throughout various checkpoints of our lives..this is the time where we "sharpen our saw" -acccording to Sean Covey (7 Habits of Highly effective Teens) is a time where we have sum reflection and brush up different aspect of our lives NOT slowing down in terms of..Slacking off in productivity & excellence or the desire to Persue our Goals.

This person also added tht "Leonard, your goals are too big".. again i questioned myself how does this person define big ? Big is very subjective, it may be big for a person bt mite not for the other. An algebra ques may be difficult for a primary school student but it won’t be much of a problem for high-school folks. Simply because they’ve reach "there".  Recently, Dr.Phil Pringle quoted a statement from

Mark Victor Hansenv-’Big goals get big results. No goals get no results.’

Is really true.. and is applicable to every events of our lives. As I end this, I would like to share u some thoughts which i believe will greatly inspires You.

If it doesn’t inspire it doesn’t motivate.

The team, the congregation, the public must be captured by the vision.

If it’s too small it won’t inspire.

If it’s rediculously big it won’t be believed.

Big, realistic thinking delivers.

People rally to a big dream.

Girls Like Bad Boys..Fact or Fiction ?

May 16th, 2007 by run2win

adapted from HMC - { MATR!CS } , writen by Jason Ngu (my Ex-hsemate)

Occasionally, the inexperience of youth find itself at a lost, in the world of big things and confusing complexities. Throw in attraction, and you have what we call adolenscence. one of these is the eternal question that the young man of gentry may never understand. Why do many girls find bad boys so dang attractive compared to their, erm, "angelic" counterparts??

The psyche of a young ‘good’ male logically concludes that since its normal for people to like being treated nicely, they become 110% nice to the girl they like. You hang on to her every word, every command. Unless you are lucky enough that the girl already likes you to the same degree, you will find yourself out of luck, and most definitely left with a prevading sense of singlehood.

Taking a dig at the female psyche, most of the time ‘bad’ does not literally mean booze, drugs, and sex. More like an attitude of rebellious confidence, a will perse, to break barriers that seem to be a mere hindrance. To the girl, a truly brooding, dark figure can bring about excitement and a thrill that they can almost never feel with the ‘nice’ guy, whom they may find overtly dudes are most likely better with words and are most confident, to knw wht they (the girls) want.

So does that mean all ‘good’ men are left out to dry til their season arrives, left to the fates?? Apprarently no, becoz no matter how the girl is attracted to personality of a ‘bad’ boy, she looks for the character of a ‘good’ guy in her ideal partner, meaning underneath it all, she’s looking for a ‘bad boy’ but with a heart of gold. Why? To treat her like a lady of course (or any other way she wants to be treated, nicely).

There is always a danger of trying to assume that which is not yours. That being said, some ppl still try hard to be ‘bad’ but fall short of such glory. What happends is you mite end up a ‘wannabe’ and as far as parts of the girl population would have their say, that’s not the top of the attraction list, no matter how many sympathizers you have.

Ideals are hard to surmise; as some would say ‘ to each, her own’. As a matter of argument, how much ‘good’ or ‘bad’ she wants in you is very subjective - so stop worrying about the variables you cannot change in the equation. Work on those which you can control, like you own values and knowing what you want. Besides, most of the girls noted that they don’t leave out the possible notion of a ‘good’ guy in their lives. Even the most hardcore supporter of ‘bad’ may be swayed by a touch of genuine character. Well, it doesn’t hurt trying now does it? (just don’t overdo it, chill, and be yourself.) Another plus point for the patiently waiting ‘good’ ones is the possibility that your dram girl outlives the ‘phase’ later in life, but it should be noted that this could come, much, much later, near possibly never for some.

So when would u know that u’ve achieved a respectable degree of individuality? I guess its when you can get that old adage right for you, that being: ‘to each, his own’.

Eversince Chris’ Released his first Album "Daughtry". It had became something which meant so much to me personally. His songs are so meaningful, positive and uplifting. Then, I realised his a christian and the songs he wrote are all based on his relationship with GOd and his wife. Chris is truly an effective Agent of Common Grace for God in the "Pop Culture" . Writing Songs which relates to ppl so personally and help others’ to realised the existence of a God out there.  Here’s a lil detail bout for all y’all out there:

Born in 1980, Chris Daughtry always had a gift for music. At age 16, Chris decided to take singing seriously and pursue it professionally. Married with children, Chris was part of a band called Absent Element and worked customer service in an otherwise ordinary life.
His inspiration in music ranges from Richard Marx to Rob Thomas and he calls his wife his "Hero" in life. Chris is from McLeansville, NC and in 2006 tried out for American Idol - Season 5. Chris is currently in the top 12 of American Idol contestants. The show’s finale is in May of 2006.

Age: 26

Status: Married

Wife: Deanna Daughtry
Wife Occupation:

licensed massage therapist in Burlington, NC
Previously lived in: Mebane, NC

Cute Fact: Chris discovered his singing ability in algebra class

Quotage:

Chris Daughtry, 26

ON HIS WIFE, DEANNA: "When we got married, I took on the two kids as my own. So, you know, she was saying that she was scared that I was sacrificing my dream by doing that, and that she was just really excited that I’m still gettin’ to live it — even though I took on the married life and the family early, that I’m still able to live my dream."

ON REJOINING HIS BAND: "If it was up to me — yes. But when it comes to doing contracts and being under a label, you know, it’s not always up to the artist. I’d love to work with those guys, but if not, they understand that it’s beyond my control."

THE BALD-HEAD-WITH-SIDEBURNS THING: "I think I started that look. I’ve been doing my sideburns like that for a couple of years now. It’s kind of a trademark."

"I was told I could really sing when I was in 11th grade (I was 16), by my friend Robert. (I hope y’all have’nt been lying to me all these years). We had to write a song for class, so I forced myself to sing in front of him. I always enjoyed singing but never had the confidence that Robert gave me that day. We wrote a couple songs and I was hooked. I knew at that time, that’s what I wanted to do with my life. He taught me some guitar chords and I took off from there. I’ve been in several bands but have never experienced the chemistry that Absent Element share.

Though I’ve always enjoyed singing, I was never pushed until I was in a rock band. Therefore it took years to develop the strength and range it takes to deliver Absent Elements’ screaming sound. My song writing comes straight from the heart. I write about my relationship with God, my wife (who inspires most of my lyrics) and other life experiences. If it did’nt happen to me, I can’t effectively and honestly write about it. " - Chris Daughtry

New Dimension !

March 19th, 2007 by run2win

Since its raining outside now so ive decided not to go Uni this early. Furthermore, class is at 11am.

I’ve been thinking for quite some time of all past events tht had happened and sum issues which i encountered as well, I realised there’s more out there which God had prepared for me.

Everyday, as i walked into my Uni. There’s this sense of confidence just flows into me. Knowing tht I’m able to achieve academically and able to Make an Impact in the lives of others over here. I’m glad about tht, I’m glad for the fact that God had chosen me for this very special mission, placed me in this Unique Situation and Made me just the way I am so that I’ll be an effective instrument of His.

Since I came to H E L P. Truly i found my passion and His will for my life. My passion for Youths had gone stronger.. and I thank God for a Great Mentor whom He’d placed in my life. Someone that helped me see things for they’re really are, motivates me to strive for Excellence in every areas of my life, and helped me to understand God’s Cultural Mandate for me.

Now I’m really really amazed of wht God is able to do through me when i begun to engaged in the Culture of my Uni actively. Bt still, i don’t claim any know hows ! Coz Is all HIM, for Him and about Him. Is feels really good when u realised you’re able to bring in a higher standard and a values into the culture.

Although, I know currently im effective but I understand too that in-order for me to be effective in the long-run, i gotta equipped myself with More knowledge and with His wisdom..then I’m able to serve more young people.. I won’t wanna be sum people whom are lack of knowledge and still pretends they knew lots. This could be worst when these ppl are either in the leadership or Managerial status…

I won’t wanna fall into tht category… Coz I knw truly, tht He has great plans for me.. and for tht reason i wanna further Equipped myself in doing what im currently doing. And there’s always a greater reason why i did what i did. and wht im about to do what im about to do… FYI, today all HCM 001 studz are suppose to prepare a speech and I’m about to talk about the "Influence of Pop Culture". Even for this so called..Secular topic for most Christians, but still there’s a message which is higher and greater which comes parallel wit it.

Is 10:20am now.. and I better get myself going. Peace Off…!

It’s a BOARing Year..*Oink-Xi Oink-Xi”
